WatchDoc Chrome Extension Notifies You When Your Google Docs Are Modified

by tim on August 30, 2011

Google Docs has been a huge productivity boost for me. The ability to share documents, collaborate in real time, and have all the goodness stored in the cloud is terrific.

A new extension for the Google Chrome browser adds even more goodness. WatchDoc for Chrome sits in your toolbar and then shows a notification badge letting you know how many updates have been made. You also have the ability to see which documents have been updated, when the changes were made, and who made them. To see the name of who edited the document, you need to require them to sign into a google account in the sharing permissions.

How cool is that? No more need to visit the Docs homepage and check to see what has changed! I’ve been trying the extension out and I absolutely love it. It takes a couple of minutes after an update is made to show up, but it still a huge productivity boost for me.
